Jefferson Vasquez-Reyes, President

Harshal Singh Chauhan, VP for Graduate Affairs

Harshal is a PhD student in Information Systems at UMBC with a professional background in dentistry and a strong academic focus in health informatics and data-driven policy. A licensed dental surgeon from India, he brings a global healthcare perspective to his role, shaped by clinical experience and a commitment to advancing student well-being through innovation and equity. Harshal earned his Master's in Health Information Technology from UMBC and has served as a Graduate Student Association (GSA) Senator for the College of Engineering and Information Technology-during which he organized and led graduate student town halls-and contributed to the GSA Strategic Planning Committee. He currently serves as the Student Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi and is a Certified Peer Educator focused on supporting student wellness and engagement.

As Lead Data Analyst for Retriever Essentials-UMBC's campus food access program-Harshal founded and chaired the organization's first Data Committee. His work was instrumental in securing the Hunger-Free Campus grant in October 2024. He also led the Free Farmers Market initiative during Summer 2023, directly serving hundreds of students.

As Vice President for Graduate Affairs, Harshal is committed to amplifying the perspectives of graduate and international students across the University System of Maryland. His priorities include strengthening inter-campus collaboration; advocating for mental health and academic equity; and ensuring inclusive, data-informed representation in all system-level decision-making.

Princess Nyamali, VP for Undergraduate Affairs

Princess Nyamali is the current Vice President for Undergraduate Affairs for the University System of Maryland Student Council (USMSC). In this role, she presents the USMSC's mission and goals to each undergraduate student government and promotes their participation in System initiatives while maintaining and reporting relevant records to and for the USMSC.

Princess is a senior with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County majoring in Translational Life Science Technology and taking classes at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG), one of the three regional higher education centers of the USM. Her passion for advocacy and student engagement stems from serving as both President and Vice President of USG's student council where she was able to hear from students across the USM about their needs and was challenged with re-evaluating and adapting traditional student engagement strategies to better reach non-traditional students to amplify their voices and enhance their experience.

As Vice President for Undergrad Affairs, Princess is especially focused on creating streamlined channels of information between undergraduate councils, so they can not only learn from each other, but also feel empowered to advocate for their councils at both a system level and an institutional level.
