CUSF Executive Committee Meeting
April 10, 2006
USM IVN Room
Present: Martha Siegel (Chair, TU); John Collins (Secretary, UMBI); Vince
Brannigan (At-Large, UMCP); John McMullen (At-Large, FSU, via IVN).
Guests: Irwin Goldstein (USM Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs); Joseph
Vivona (USM Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration); Pat Alt (TU).
Not Present: Lee Richardson (Past Chair, UB); E. William Chapin (Vice
Chair, UMES).
The meeting was called to order at 10:07am
Review of the March Executive Committee minutes was postponed pending
resending.
The system report was given by Dr. Goldstein. He talked about the upcoming
BOR meeting on Friday. The "Hug bill" is pending in the Senate. This
will affect the nominations for new BOR members. There was a lively discussion
of COLA inequities. Vice Chancellor Vivona joined the meeting briefly to provide
information for the discussion of salary inequities. In response to questions
from Dr. Collins, he said that the UMBI-IHV situation would probably be decided
by the BOR in mid-May.
The Regents Faculty Award draft changes document, presented by Dr. Alt, was
reviewed and discussed. It was agreed to present this to CUSF at the April 18
meeting.
It was agreed that elections for the 2006-2007 Executive Committee will be
done at the beginning of the April 18 CUSF meeting. The agenda for the rest of
that meeting was set.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 2:00pm.
