USM Regents Education Policy Committee to Review Institutions' Mission Statements
Adelphi, Md. (Dec. 8,
2010) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on
Education Policy will meet in a day-long public session on Monday, December 13,
to review the proposed mission statements of USM institutions and regional
centers.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. It will be held in
the Chancellor's Conference Room in the Elkins Building at the USM headquarters,
3300 Metzerott Road, Adelphi, MD.
Presidents of the academic institutions and directors of the
two regional centers, or their respective designees, will present the mission statements
and respond to questions from the committee.
The mission statements were prepared following guidelines
offered in 2005 by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).
Institutions and centers will have another opportunity to revise statements in
response to questions from the committee before submission to MHEC by February
1, 2011. In April 2011, the full Board of Regents will consider the statements
for final adoption. All statements will require MHEC approval, as well.
