USM Regents Education Policy Committee Meets November 11
Adelphi,
Md. (Nov. 4, 2010) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of
Regents Committee on Education Policy at its next meeting will vote on two new
academic programs and employment policies regarding USM adjunct faculty and
graduate assistants.
The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday,
November 11 in the Potomac Room in the University Union at Towson University.
The new academic program proposals under consideration are both at
Towson University. The first is a master of science and post-baccalaureate
certificate in supply chain management. The second is a post-baccalaureate
certificate in project, program, and portfolio management.
The policy on employment of USM adjunct faculty would establish
baseline standards for the employment of such faculty across the system,
including compensation and appropriate access to office and meeting space.
A second policy under consideration would establish baseline
standards for system-wide administration of graduate assistantships, including
economic benefits and opportunities to discuss issues of concern with faculty
and administration.
The committee also will hear several information items, including the
development of the USM 2020 strategic plan, a report on the workload of USM faculty,
and an overview of opening fall enrollments.
After the public meeting, the committee will meet in executive
session.
Background information and agendas will be available at the meeting.
Sign language interpreters and/or appropriate accommodations for eligible individuals
with disabilities will be provided upon request. Please call 301.445.1901
