USM Regents Committee on Finance Meets September 2
Adelphi,
Md. (Aug. 30, 2010) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of
Regents Committee on Finance at its next meeting will take action on several proposals,
including one to issue USM revenue bonds for new academic and auxiliary
projects.
The public meeting is scheduled to begin at about 11 a.m. Thursday, September
2 in the Juan Ramon Jimenez Room, located on the second floor of the Adele H.
Stamp Union at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). Before the
public meeting, the committee will convene in executive session at 10 a.m.
The proposed bond resolution authorizes the issuance of revenue
bonds to finance $115.5 million of projects, including a new college of liberal
arts at Towson University and a new student center at Bowie State University.
The committee also will vote on a proposed renovation of the UMCP
President's Residence. The renovation, requested by the UMCP Foundation, would be
paid for entirely with private funds from foundation assets. All design and construction contracts would be
the foundation's responsibility, as well.
Other action items include a change in 2010-2019 enrollment
projections for full-time equivalent day students at Bowie State, which have
been revised slightly upward.
Background information and agendas will be available at the meeting.
