USM Regents Education Policy Committee Meets January 27

Md. (Jan. 22, 2010) - The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of
Regents Committee on Education Policy at its next meeting will take action on new
academic program proposals and hear several information items, including a report on USM
institutions' external funding levels.
The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January
27 in Room 767 of the Albin O. Kuhn Library on the campus of the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
The new academic program proposals under consideration include the
following:
Bachelor of Fine Arts and modification of the B.S. in Art & Design
at Towson University;
B.A. in Environmental Sustainability and Human Ecology at University of
Baltimore;
B.S. in Cybersecurity at University of Maryland University College.
The report on external funding highlights awards
received by USM institutions in support of specific research, education and
service initiatives during fiscal year 2009. During that time, the USM received
more than $1.29 billion in external funding.
After the public meeting, the committee will meet in
executive session.
