Board of Regents Meets December 14 at the University of Baltimore
ADELPHI, Md. (December 11, 2007)
- The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will convene on Friday,
December 14, 2007, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the
Fifth Floor Multi-Purpose Room of the University of Baltimore Student
Center, 21 West Mount
Royal Avenue, Baltimore City. The public
meeting will be followed by an executive session of the board at 11:30
a.m.
The meeting will open with reports from USM Chancellor William E.
Kirwan and from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff,
and students.
Action items before the board include:
- New academic
program proposals in pharmacy, sports management, and kinesiology;
- Endorsement
of the goals of the NASH (National Association of System Heads) Access and
Success Initiative;
- Renewal of the
system-wide scientific supplies contract;
- Request by
the Institute for Human Virology for approval of a contract for support
staff services in Africa and the Caribbean.
The board will receive information on the Middle States accreditation
of University of Maryland, College Park; USM faculty
workload; periodic reviews of academic programs; Fall 2007 opening enrollment
statistics; and Governor Martin O'Malley's executive order establishing the P-20
Leadership Council of Maryland. In addition, the Regents' effectiveness and
efficiency (E&E) workgroup will deliver its annual report of dashboard
indicators measuring system progress toward the goals set forth by the USM
E&E Initiative launched in 2004.
