USM Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life Meets September 19
Adelphi,
Md. (Sept. 15, 2017) -- The University System Board of Regents (BOR) Committee
on Education Policy and Student Life at its next meeting will vote on several
new academic degree programs, or adjustments to existing ones, hear an
informational report on intercollegiate athletics, and vote on amendments to
the System's Policy on Undergraduate Admissions.
The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19 in
Ballroom B (4th Floor) of the West Village Commons at Towson University.
The new academic program is a proposed M.S. at Towson University in
management and leadership studies. University of Maryland University College is
proposing adjustments to specific areas of concentration, which would result in
three freestanding academic programs: M.S. in acquisition and contract
management; M.S. in cyber operations; and M.S. in strategic communications.
The BOR Policy on Intercollegiate Athletics (V-2.10) requires
institutions to submit reports to inform the board of the academic and
financial status of the athletic programs. The committee will hear an update on
the academic performance of Division I student-athletes.
Amendments to the Policy on Undergraduate Admission (III-4.00) are
being proposed to ensure the policy is aligned with Code of Maryland Annotated
Regulations (COMAR) and the USM Policy on Affirmative Action and Equal
Opportunity and to clarify admissions criteria for graduates of early and
middle college programs.
