USM Board of Regents Meets June 16
Meeting
to Include Presentation of Chancellor's Annual Report, Vote on FY 18 Operating
Budget
Adelphi, Md. (June 14, 2017) -- The University System of Maryland
(USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will hear a presentation of the
Chancellor's Annual Report and vote on the fiscal year (FY) 2018 operating
budget.
The
public session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 16 in the Gira Center, Room
CCIT 397 on the campus of Frostburg State University 101 Braddock Road, Frostburg,
MD. The board first will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed
session to discuss an item that falls under a category specifically exempted
from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. That item is legal
advice in connection with a proposed transaction. The public session is
scheduled to resume at approximately 9 a.m.
The
FY 18 operating budget on which the board is voting includes revenue from state appropriations, tuition and fees,
auxiliary services, federal and other contracts and grants, endowment income,
and other revenues for a total budget of $5.5 billion. The board at its April
21 meeting approved the FY 2018 tuition and fee schedule, with resident
undergraduate tuition capped at 2 percent.
The regents
will hear reports from the councils of university system presidents, faculty,

As a final
public meeting action, the board will vote on whether to reconvene in closed
session to discuss other items that fall under categories specifically exempted
from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. These items include
various personnel matters, acquisition of real property, collective bargaining,
legal matters, and any item requiring consideration in closed session to comply
with a specific statutory requirement.
