USM Chancellor Robert L. Caret Statement on May 20, 2017 Tragedy at the University of Maryland, College Park
"On behalf
of the greater University System of Maryland community, I would like to
convey our profound sorrow regarding this tragic and senseless loss of
life. We mourn for the student, his family and closest friends, and
everyone at Bowie State University.

campuses from Bowie State to the University of Maryland, College Park and
throughout the system, our students and families this week are celebrating
graduations and the growth all students make en route to such a milestone.
During this time, and well beyond, we will seek the most fitting ways to
convey our sadness regarding Saturday's tragedy and to heal as a
community."
