Three USM Regents Committees to Meet March 30
Adelphi, Md. (March 28, 2017) -- Three committees of the University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will hold meetings on Thursday, March
30 at the University of Baltimore. The meetings will be held in the Hilda and
Michael Bogomolny Room (5th floor) of the Student Center at the
University of Baltimore (UB), located at 21 W. Mt. Royal Avenue, Baltimore, MD.
The Committee on
Organization and Compensation will meet at 8 a.m. and hear status reports on
presidential search committees, regular 5-year presidential reviews and other
matters. The committee then will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session
to consider collective bargaining and personnel items specifically exempted in
the Open Meetings Act from public consideration. The full agenda and supporting

At 10 a.m., the Committee
on Finance will vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session to consider
items specifically exempted in the Open Meetings Act from public consideration.
Those items include the awarding of new contracts for information technology
(IT) financial systems and IT support.
The public session is
scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with presentations of the facilities master
plan update for the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) and systemwide
enrollment projections. The committee will vote on campus self-support charges
and fees for fiscal year 2018. Other items include the creation of a business
entity at the University of Maryland, College Park that will serve as an
innovative real estate arm to advance economic and community development goals
and information on the status of capital improvement projects systemwide. The full

The Committee on Economic
Development and Technology Commercialization will meet in public session at
12:20 p.m. The committee will hear a presentation on a
featured startup, Balti Virtual. The firm, founded by a UMBC alumnus, comprises
a team of 3D experts, creating state-of-the-art virtual and augmented reality
experiences. The committee will
be updated on selected USM economic development initiatives, including the
Maryland Momentum Fund, federal and industry partnerships, legislative and
