USM Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life Meets January 17
Adelphi, Md. (Jan. 13, 2017) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of
Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life at its next meeting will
vote on three new academic program proposals and hear a report on extramural
funding for fiscal year 2016.
The meeting is scheduled to
begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, on the seventh floor of the Albin O.
Kuhn Library on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County
(UMBC).
Two
of the academic programs are at the University of Maryland, College Park: a
master's of quantitative finance, and a Ph.D. and M.S. in environmental health.
The third proposed program is a M.S. in transformational leadership at University
of Maryland University College.
The
report on extramural funding will detail a total of $1.266 billion during FY
2016, a slight increase from FY 2015. Other information items include an update
on student activism and results of periodic reviews of academic programs.
The
final public session item is a vote on whether to reconvene in closed session
to discuss items exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings
Act. The reason for closing is to maintain confidentiality of personnel-related
and personal information of candidates for faculty awards and honorary degrees.
