USM Board of Regents Meets December 9
Board to
Vote on New Academic Programs, Minor Revision to Exempt Salary Structure
Adelphi,
Md. (Dec. 6, 2016) -- The
University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will
vote on new academic programs and several finance matters.
The public session of the meeting will begin
at 8:30 a.m. Friday, December 9 in the Student Center, Wiseman Conference Room
at Bowie State University. The campus address is 14000 Jericho Park Road,
Bowie, MD.
The new academic programs are
a B.S. in translational life science technology at the University of Maryland,
Baltimore County (UMBC) and a B.S. in homeland security at University of
Maryland University College (UMUC).
The board will vote on a
revision to the biennial exempt-employee salary structure adjustment for fiscal
years 2017 and 2018. Other action items include a vote on the demolition of
three structures located on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus
at 114-120 N. Greene St.
The regents will hear reports
from the councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students.
At the end of the public meeting, the board will vote on whether to reconvene
in closed session to discuss items that fall under categories specifically
exempted from public consideration under the Open Meetings Act. These items
include various personnel matters, acquisition of real property, collective
bargaining, legal matters, and any item requiring consideration in closed
session to comply with a specific statutory requirement.
