USM Board of Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development Meet November 17
Adelphi, Md. (Nov. 15, 2016) -- The University System of Maryland (USM)
Board of Regents Committee on Finance and the Committee on Economic Development
and Technology Commercialization will meet on Thursday, November 17. Both
meetings will take place at the University of Maryland University College
(UMUC) Inn and Conference Center, 3501 University Blvd. East, Adelphi, MD.
The Committee on Finance
will meet at 10 a.m. in Room 1105, on the conference center's main level, and
vote publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session. In closed session, the
committee would discuss issues specifically exempted in the Open Meetings Act
from the requirement for public consideration. Those issues are a real property
acquisition in the city of Salisbury and the awarding of a new contract for
online digital advertising.
The committee is
scheduled to meet in public session at 10:30 a.m. in the Chesapeake Ballroom
and receive a couple of presentations, including the Coppin State University
facilities master plan update and the fall opening enrollment report for FY 2016. The
committee will also vote on several action items including the demolition of
three structures located on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus

The Committee on
Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet at 12:20 p.m. in
the Chesapeake Ballroom. The committee will hear an information item on a
featured start-up company, Leverege, LLC. The company, based at bwtech@UMBC,
develops software-as-a-service products that leverage software innovations such
as big data and predictive analytics that can help businesses make better
decisions and reduce time to market. The committee also will be briefed on
selected economic development initiatives, including a cyber workforce talent
