USM Board of Regents to Meet September 9, Present Regents Staff Awards
Adelphi,
Md. (Sept. 7, 2016) -- The University System of Maryland
(USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will honor the recipients of the
Board of Regents staff awards. The board also will hear a presentation of the
Bowie State University facilities master plan and vote on a lease for a health clinic.
The
meeting will begin at 9 a.m. September 9 at Towson University in the West
Village Commons, Ballroom A. The Staff Awards recognize staff members
who have made exceptional contributions to their organizations, students and
the university community. Recipients will be honored by the board at an earlier
private awards breakfast, and then acknowledged shortly after the start of the
public session.
The
board will vote on a resolution of intent to reimburse USM cash balances
spent on revenue-bond authorization projects and a lease of space in the
University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Nursing for an urgent care center
for University of Maryland Midtown Health, Inc.
The regents will hear reports from the councils of university system
presidents, faculty, staff and students. At the end of the public agenda, the board
will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items that fall
under closing guidelines of the Open Meetings Act. Those items are meetings
with two USM presidents as part of their performance reviews; a briefing
on legislative audit matters that are ongoing and, therefore, confidential;
discussion of investigative matters that may lead to criminal prosecution; one
real property acquisition in Salisbury, MD; an administrative matter relating
to a request-for-proposal for a study of presidential compensation nationally; an
update on labor negotiations and discussions on memoranda of understanding; and
report from legal counsel on status of the Coalition Case.

statement, can be accessed here.
