USM Regents Committees on Finance and Economic Development Meet March 31
Adelphi, Md. (March 29,
2016) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee
on Finance and the Committee on Economic Development and Technology
Commercialization will meet on Thursday, March 31. Both meetings will take
place in the Potomac Ballroom, Salon 2, of the University of Maryland
University College (UMUC) Inn and Conference Center, 3501 University Blvd.
East, Adelphi, MD.
At 10 a.m., the Committee on Finance will convene and vote
on several action items. Those items include campus self-support charges and
fees for fiscal year 2017, several building leases at the University of
Maryland, College Park (UMCP), and a new policy on criminal background checks. The
committee also will hear several information items, including a presentation of
the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's facilities master plan update. The

The Committee on Economic Development and Technology
Commercialization is scheduled to meet at 12:15 p.m. The committee will have an
informational presentation on a featured start-up, Xcision Medical Systems,
LLC. Xcision Medical Systems, LLC was founded by Dr. Cedric Yu, a
professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology in the University of Maryland
School of Medicine. The company is developing solutions to enable an expanded
role of radiation therapy in cancer care, based on a patent from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
The
committee also will hear informational updates on the Greater College Park
Innovation District, early-stage investment fund opportunities, and the latest USM
