USM Board of Regents to Vote on Academic Program Proposals, Towson University Facilities Master Plan Update
Adelphi, Md. (Oct. 7,
2015) -- The
University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will
vote on proposed new academic programs and the facilities master plan update for Towson
University.
The public session of the
meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, October 9 in the Ballroom of the
Student Services Center of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES),
located at 11868 Academic Oval, Princess Anne, Md. (GPS address).
The academic program
proposals include a B.S. in information science at the University of Maryland,
College Park and a technical revision to the Board of Regents student social
media privacy policy.
The Towson University
facilities master plan supports the university's mission and 2020
Strategic Plan. The plan builds upon the framework established in the 2009 FMP
and addresses physical planning aspects associated with the university's
planned enrollment growth. The board also will vote on the memorandum of
agreement with the Maryland Transit Administration regarding the
Maryland-National Capital Purple Line.
The regents will hear a resolution
saluting the exemplary service of former USM vice chancellor for government relations
P.J. Hogan and reports from the chancellor, councils of university system
presidents, faculty, staff and students. After the public meeting, the board
will vote on whether to reconvene in executive session to discuss ongoing
legislative audits and personnel, legal, contractual, and collective bargaining
issues, matters that fall under closing guidelines of the Open Meetings Act.
