USM Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development to Meet September 11
Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 9,
2014) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee
on Finance and the Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization
will hold separate meetings on Thursday, Sept. 11, at the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
Both meetings will be held on the seventh floor of the Albin
O. Kuhn Library on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County
(UMBC). At 10 a.m., the Committee on Finance will vote publicly on whether to
reconvene in closed session.
In closed session, the committee would consider items
specifically exempted in the Open Meetings Act from public consideration. Those
items are the appointment of officials to the board of bwtech@umbc (the UMBC
research park); acquisition of real property in Salisbury, Md.; and investment
options of the USM Common Trust Fund.
In public session, the committee will act on proposed
amendments to the policy on tuition remission for spouses and dependents for
USM employees and retirees. The committee also will vote on the sale by Coppin
State University of the Hebrew Orphan Asylum to the Coppin Heights Community
Development Corporation and hear an informational review of capital improvement

The Committee on Economic Development and Technology
Commercialization will meet in public session at 12:20 p.m. The committee will
hear several information items, including a briefing on the Maryland Innovation
Initiative, a presentation from USM start-up firm Analytical Informatics, an
update on the Maryland Economic Development and Business Climate Commission,
and the report on new company formation for January 2014 through June 2014.
