USM Regents Committees on Finance and Economic Development to Meet Jan. 30
Adelphi, Md. (Jan.
28, 2014) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents
Committee on Finance and the Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization
will meet on Thursday, January 30.
The Committee on Finance will convene at 10 a.m. to take a
public vote on whether to reconvene in executive session. The meeting will take
place at Towson University in the University Union, Room 306. The committee is
scheduled to convene in public session at 10:15 a.m. That meeting will take
place in the University Union, Room 304.
During the public session, the committee will vote on
several action items, including amendments to USM policies for sick leave and
annual leave and an increase in funding for construction projects at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and University of Maryland,
Baltimore. The committee also will hear information items on fall 2013
enrollment, the capital budget, and a report on fiscal year 2013 procurement
contracts.

The Committee on Economic Development and Technology
Commercialization will convene at noon in Room 306 to take a public vote on
whether to reconvene in executive session. A public session of the committee is
scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in Room 304.
The committee will hear information items on the USM cyber
security landscape and a featured cyber security start-up, Light Point
Security, based at bwtech@UMBC. The committee also will hear presentations
regarding the Maryland E-nnovation Initiative and the Regional Institution Strategic
