USM Board of Regents Audit Committee Meets December 19
Adelphi, Md. (Dec. 18,
2013) -- The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Audit will meet at 10
a.m. on Thursday, December 19. The meeting will be held in the Chancellor's
Conference Room at the University System of Maryland headquarters, 3300
Metzerott Road, Adelphi, Md.
The
committee will convene publicly and discuss an information item regarding an
independent audit of USM financial statements and enrollment reports for fiscal
year 2013.
The
committee then will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss
personnel matters and consult with counsel for legal advice. The audit
committee regularly discusses personnel matters that may or may not result in
personnel action and/or the loss of reputation of individuals; audit and
investigative activities that may result in personnel action and/or possible
criminal conduct; legal matters that require consultation with counsel; and
potential litigation that requires consultation with staff, consultants, and
other individuals. These matters all fall within the proper guidelines of the
Maryland Open Meetings Act for holding meetings in closed session.
