USM Board of Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development to Meet Nov. 21

to be Preceded by Special Meeting of Committee of the Whole
Adelphi, Md. (Nov.
19, 2013) -- The University System
of Maryland Board of Regents Committee on Finance and the Committee on Economic
Development and Technology Commercialization will hold separate meetings on
Thursday, November 21 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
Before those meetings begin, the Board of Regents will meet
in public session at 9:30 a.m. in Room 767 of the Albin O. Kuhn Library at UMBC to vote on whether
to reconvene in closed session for a special meeting of the committee of the
whole. The vote to meet in closed session is consistent with guidelines under
the Maryland Open Meetings Act to obtain legal advice.
The Committee on Finance will convene at 10 a.m. in Room
767 of the Albin O. Kuhn Library to vote publicly on reconvening in closed
session. The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. in the open
area of the library 7th floor. The agenda items include a vote on
the facilities master plan for the Universities at Shady Grove and the sale of
real property to the University of Maryland, College Park Foundation.
Information items include Fall 2013 enrollment figures and the capital budget.

Committee on Economic Development and Technology Commercialization will meet in
public session at noon in the open area of the library 7th floor.
The committee will hear an information item on a featured start-up company,
Omni Speech. The group then will vote on whether to reconvene in closed session,
to review and discuss items permitted to be discussed in closed session. Background
