USM Board of Regents Committees on Audit, Finance Meet Oct. 17
Adelphi, Md. (Oct.
15, 2013) -- The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Audit and Committee on
Finance will meet on Thursday, October 17. Both meetings will take place at the
Universities at Shady Grove (USG), 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville, MD.
The Committee on Audit will convene at 10 a.m.
in Building III, Room 3156 of the Camille Kendall Academic Center, to vote
publicly on whether to reconvene in closed session. Should the vote be
approved, the committee in closed session will discuss litigation matters,
drafts of financial statements, and activities of the Office of Legislative
Audit and the Office of Internal Audit. These topics fall within the proper
guidelines of the Maryland Open Meetings Act for holding meetings in closed
session.
The Committee on Finance will vote publicly at
noon in Building III, Room 3156, on whether to reconvene in closed session. The
reason for closing is to discuss and make recommendations on the acquisition of
real property in Baltimore and Salisbury, Md. The agenda and supporting

The committee is then scheduled to meet in
public session at 12:45 p.m., in Building III, Room 4202. The committee will receive
an informational presentation on the Facilities Master Plan Update for the
Universities at Shady Grove. Other information items before the committee are
the Towson University Smith Hall project alternative site study and the sale of
University of Maryland, College Park property to Prince George's County for a
right-of-way bridge crossing of CSX Railroad tracks.
The committee will vote on items
that increase authorizations for renovations at Towson University to Ward Hall
and West Hall (for a student health and counseling center) and two residence
halls. It will also vote on a contract for renewal of scientific supplies at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore.
