USM Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development to Meet June 18
Adelphi, Md. (June 13, 2013) -- The University System of Maryland
(USM) Board of Regents Committee on Finance at its next meeting will vote on
several action items, including the Capital Improvement Program, System-Funded
Construction Program and the issuance of USM auxiliary facility and tuition
revenue bonds.
The session will begin at 10:00 Tuesday, June 18, in the President's
Board Room, 14th floor of the Saratoga Office Building at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). The building is located at 220 North
Arch Street, Baltimore, MD. The committee first will take a public vote on
whether to reconvene in closed, executive session.
The public session is scheduled to begin at 10:15 a.m. Other action items
before the committee include adjustments to the Nonexempt Pay Structure and a technical
amendment to the board policy on student classification for admission and
tuition purposes. The committee will vote on whether to approve several
contracts, including a proposed fiscal year 2014 contract between UMB and the University
of Maryland Medical System.
The committee also will hear an informational report on progress
toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions at USM institutions. The complete

The Committee on Economic
Development and Technology Commercialization at noon will assemble in the same
location to vote publicly on whether to reconvene in executive session. The
public session of the meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:25 p.m.
The committee will hear four information items. The first item
centers on network models of regional innovation clusters and their influence
on economic growth. The committee also will be presented with the UM Ventures
annual report and discuss the USM Innovation Portal. The meeting will conclude
with a discussion of highlights of committee initiatives.
