USM Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life Meets June 5
Adelphi, Md. (June
3, 2013) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents
Committee on Education Policy and Student Life at its next meeting will hear a presentation of
the 2013 Summary of Institutional Achievement Gap Reports and vote on
whether to approve the Annual Progress Reports on Programs of Cultural
Diversity. The committee also will vote on 11 new academic program proposals.
The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday,
June 5 on the seventh floor of the Albin O. Kuhn Library on the campus of the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
As informational items, the committee will be formally
introduced to two new leaders at USM. The first is MJ Bishop, director for the
Center for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CIELT), and
Chuck Thomas, executive director of the University System of Maryland and
Affiliated Institutions (USMAI, a consortium of 16 libraries at the public universities
and colleges in Maryland).
The committee also will hear updates on the USM's P-20 (pre-kindergarten
through graduate school) collaboration efforts and The College and Career
Readiness and College Completion Act of 2013 (Maryland Senate Bill 740).
