USM Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life, Committee on Effectiveness and Efficiency to Meet March 13
Adelphi, Md. (March
11, 2013) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee
on Education Policy and Student Life will vote on three proposed academic
programs and hear several information items, including a report on retention
and graduation rates of full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students.
The public session is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in the
Margaret Brent Room (2112) of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union at the
University of Maryland, College Park.
The academic programs under consideration are a B.S. in
elementary and middle school dual certification at Frostburg State University;
an Ed.D. in contemporary curriculum theory and instruction in literacy at
Salisbury University; and an M.S. in nonprofit management social
entrepreneurship at the University of Baltimore.
The committee also will hear an information item on
implementation of a key platform of the USM Strategic Plan: transforming the
academic model to meet higher education and leadership needs of the state in

After the public meeting, the board will vote on a motion to
adjourn and reconvene in executive session, during which it would consider a
nomination for an honorary degree.
The USM Board of Regents Committee on Effectiveness and
Efficiency will hold a public meeting at noon. The committee will review
dashboard indicators, data that summarize critical measures of success and
compliance in a wide array of board initiatives. The committee also will review
a 10th anniversary report on the USM's Effectiveness and Efficiency
