USM Board of Regents Meets June 22
Adelphi, Md. (June 19, 2012) -- The
University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will vote
on several new academic program proposals and also take action on the fiscal
year (FY) 2014 capital budget request and FY 2013 System-funded construction
request.
The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on
Friday, June 22 at Perdue Hall (Room No. 151 and Atrium Lobby) on the campus of
Salisbury University.
The new academic programs under consideration are
B.S. degrees in marketing and management of information systems at Coppin State
University; a B.F.A. in acting at Towson University; a B.A. in film studies at
the University of Maryland, College Park; and an M.A. in English Studies at
UMBC.
Last month, the board's Committee on Finance held its annual capital budget
workshop to review and discuss strategic priorities for the system's capital
improvement program. The presidents of the system's 12 institutions
participated. Other action items before the full board include an amendment to
the board policy regarding non-discrimination on the basis of sexual
orientation and proposals to improve parental leave and other family supports
for faculty and staff.
The regents will hear the Chancellor's annual report and reports from the
councils of university system presidents, faculty, staff and students.
After the public meeting, the board will meet in executive session.
