USM Board of Regents Committees on Finance, Economic Development Meet June 19

-- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee on Finance
at its next meeting will vote on several items, including the fiscal year (FY)
2014 capital budget request and the FY 2013 System-funded construction program
request.
The
meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on June 19 in the Library Conference and
Special Collections rooms of the Thurgood Marshall Library (2nd
floor) at Bowie State University, located at 14000 Jericho Park Road, Bowie,
MD. After a public call to order, the
committee will vote on convening in executive session. The public session is
scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
The
finance committee's capital budget recommendations will be presented to the
full board at its meeting scheduled for June 22. Last month, the committee held
its annual capital budget workshop to review and discuss strategic goals and
priorities for the system's capital improvement program. The presidents of the
system's 12 institutions participated.
Other
action items include an amendment to the board policy regarding
non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and proposals to improve
parental leave and other family supports for faculty and staff. Background

After
the meeting of the Committee on Finance, the Committee on Economic Development
and Technology Commercialization will have a public call to order at 12 Noon
before a vote on convening in executive session. The public session is
scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m.

committee will discuss several information items, including the Invest Maryland
program, USM engagement with the venture capital community and highlights of
