USM Regents Committee on Education Policy Meets June 6
Adelphi, Md. (May 31,
2012) -- The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Committee
on Education Policy at its next meeting will hear annual reports from
institutions' athletic departments, vote on several new academic programs, and
discuss campus reports on progress in closing the achievement gap.
The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday,
June 6 on the seventh floor of the Albin O. Kuhn Library on the campus of the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
The new academic programs under
consideration are B.S. degrees in marketing and management of information
systems at Coppin State University; a B.F.A. in acting at Towson University; a
B.A. in film studies at the University of Maryland, College Park; and an M.A.
in English Studies at UMBC.
In addition to institutional
reports on athletics and closing the achievement gap, other information items
are the draft of the new strategic plan for the University of Maryland,
Baltimore and a report on enrollment patterns of transfer students to the USM
during fiscal year 2011.
Before the public session, the
committee will meet in closed, executive session after the call to order at
9:30 a.m.
