Board of Regents to Meet February 9 at University of Maryland
University College
The University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents will meet in regular
public session on Friday, February 9 at 11 a.m. in Rooms 2101-2105 at the Inn
and Conference Center at the University of Maryland University College in
College Park, MD.
The Board will consider several agenda items, including:

Pending legislation concerning collective bargaining for USM staff members.
Joseph F. Vivona, USM vice chancellor for Administration and Finance, will lead
a discussion on the topic.

Enhancement requests from the USM's Historically Black Institutions, pursuant to
the partnership agreement between the State of Maryland and the U.S. Department
of Education's Office of Civil Rights.

Establishment of new policies and procedures for real estate transactions,
consistent with Senate Bill 682. The new rules strike a balance between
institutional self-management and the Regents' responsibility for System
governance.

Installation of fire protection systems in eight residence halls and four Greek
houses at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Construction of a fourth residence hall at the Capstone South Campus Student
Housing Project at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Procedures for appealing to the Board of Regents decisions to terminate tenured
or tenure-track faculty members for cause.

Annual report on campus crime.

Scholastic Aptitude Test results from the USM institutions.

Revised policy on annual leave for faculty.

Proposed new courses, including Frostburg State University's Bachelor of
arts/bachelor of science degree in exercise and sport science; Salisbury State
University's B.A. in conflict analysis and dispute resolution and B.S. in
athletic training; Towson University's B.A./B.S. in religious studies, B.S. in
E-business, B.S. in geography and land surveying, doctorate of education in
instructional technology, master of arts in humanities, and master of science in
social sciences; University of Maryland Eastern Shore's B.A. in applied design
and Ph.D. in food science and technology; and University of Maryland University
College's M.S. in accounting and financial management.

USM campaign status and report on gifts to endowment.
